Flatland!

A 2D/3D hybrid platformer.

As it would turn out, 2D elements can interact with a "slice" of a 3D world. Give them the ability to rotate that slice, and they can access the whole world.

Your goal is to recover the blueprints for a now-defunct theme park known as Flatland.

Please note that this was made in 7 days for JuniperDev's Very Serious Game Jam, and will definitely contain some weird glitches. Just roll with it :)

A/D to move, SPACE to jump, W to talk & open doors.

Featuring:

  • Almost a minute of OST!
  • 2 levels to fall off of!
  • Fifty* coins!
  • Five NPCs to interact with!
  • Countless seconds of gameplay!
  • Extras!

Asset Disclosure: All assets were created by me. The font used throughout the game was not created in the jam period, however every other asset was. Music was created using JummBox, and sound effects using JSFXR. Sprites were created using GIMP. The Message Block sprite and behaviour is heavily inspired by Super Mario World's message block.

Reminds me a bit of the rotating mechanic in fez
It seems cool, but the controls are kind of frustrating, the player moves too fast.

good job making this 👍
